Alyson, a grade 11 student  from Glenmary School in Peace River,  has made it to the provincial level of competition with her singing ability. She  wrote to tell a story.

Here is what she had to say...
Serious business combined with pleasure
Time for a  ferry ride and dinner-picnic
in  beautiful Peace River country
"Hi Georgina,

It's me! The singer from Glenmary who you talked to about quitting.

I just wanted to tell you that I am extremely appreciative of the terrific, yet horryifying, presentation you gave the other day. I must say, out of all of the educational presentations that school has presented us with, yours was the most captivating, interesting, and inspirational one I have ever witnessed. I wanted to add that the day after I watched your presentation I went straight to the town library on my spare to loan out your book.

As I told you I have been smoke free for a few days and now it is your book that is getting me through the cravings, (as well as the large amount of candy and sugarfree gum I mentioned to you!) Each day that I read more and more of your helpful book, I become more determined that smoke will stay out of my life and out of my lungs for good. In the 5 days that I have been without a cigarette I have already noticed a significant improvement in my voice and so did my singing teacher, Provincials on Saturday may not be as hard as I thought it would be, now that I am an ex-smoker!

What I really want to tell you is that thanks to you and your curiosity and intelligence towards the fraud that is the tobacco companies, I now have the much needed drive and determination to erase cigarettes from my daily life, if not from my thoughts. So, once again thankyou ever so much! I will keep e-mailing you to inform you of my further progress.

Yours Sincerely and Thankfully,
Alyson Sheehan, Gr. 11, Glenmary School, Peace River, AB
