| PROJECT MOVING TARGET Tobacco Awareness Youth Mentorship Program complies with CDC Guidelines for School Health Programs to Prevent Tobacco Use and Addiction. Secondary school students complete classroom lesson plans to become Tobacco Awareness Youth Mentors, who visit primary school pupils to talk about tobacco trickery. This book and curriculum comply with CDC Guidelines for School Health Programs to prevent tobacco use and addiction Components of PROJECT MOVING TARGET include information, discussion and written reflection on tobacco advertising, youth as the target, scientific truth and tobacco companies' disregard for it, family/peer issues, tobacco sponsored community events and Hollywood actors. PROJECT MOVING TARGET participants embark on a discovery of outrage as they read actual tobacco documents, including the 1983 letter from Sylvester Stallone agreeing to payment of $500,000.00 for smoking Brown & Williamson products in no less than five feature films. Smoking movie stars once considered role models tarnish their own image by accepting tobacco money to smoke onscreen. WHAT DO THE STUDENTS SAY? "If I hadn't seen the actual document I would never have believed they use ammonia to make nicotine more addictive. Thanks for telling us." "That tar jar did it for me. I had no idea! " "I was totally disgusted to hear about Project SCUM. " "I'm so mad at the tobacco company I will never smoke again." |
