| Building Leadership for Action in Schools Today: B.L.A.S.T. In 1996 the Alberta Lung Association developed the concept of a youth conference focused on tobacco reduction. The BLAST Conference and follow-up program educates junior high youth through the development of leadership and communication skills, and empowers them to make positive changes within their schools, youth groups, and communities.
