Building Leadership for Action in Schools Today: B.L.A.S.T.

In 1996 the Alberta Lung Association  developed  the concept of a youth conference focused on tobacco reduction.  The BLAST Conference and follow-up program educates junior high youth through the development of leadership and communication skills, and empowers them to make positive changes within their schools, youth groups, and communities.

Students who participate in BLAST attend the NWT BLAST Conference in the fall; create and implement and follow-up projects over a five-month period.

Georgina Lovell and Project Moving Target
